Who is the target audience?

Aimed at people who, by the nature of their activities, train brigade personnel, professional firefighters and/or emergency responders in fire control and extinguishing in indoor/outdoor scenarios. The course will review NFPA Standards 1401: Training Records and Reports, 1402: Construction of Training Centers, and 1403: Evolution of NFPA Live Fire Training, as well as the development of instructional plans that will provide key elements for the instructor to ensure the execution of safe practices and accepted protocols in fire service training.

What will you learn?

  • Identification of codes, standards and guidelines to be implemented when building or acquiring a permanent structure for live fire training.
  • Discuss how procedures are critical to ensure safety in a live fire training structure.
  • Knowledge of the characteristics of a live fire training structure where gas is used and where gas is not used.

The topics are handled bearing in mind some international technical reference standards based on:

  • NFPA 1401: fire department training records and reports.
  • NFPA 1402: Firefighter training facilities and associated accessories.
  • NFPA 1403: live fire training maneuvers.
  • Case studies.

Requirements and evaluation method

You must have a computer with access to a good internet signal. Each participant will be evaluated through theoretical exams and practical exercises.

Prerequisites:

  • It is recommended to have completed NFPA 1041 or similar course, which allows you to have the minimum skills required according to the instructor training level.
  • The following personal protective equipment should be worn for firefighting: pants, jacket, firefighting helmet, overalls, gloves and boots. (In case you do not have any of these equipments, please inform your sales representative).
  • In addition, do not forget to bring your personal protective gear: work clothes, safety glasses, sunglasses, sunscreen.

Duration and schedule: 2 weeks – 40 hours.

Participants will take the blended course with a virtual module of 8 hours of which 8 synchronous hours, 8 asynchronous hours and 24 face-to-face hours, for a total of 40 hours. The schedules and modules are developed as follows:

Presential Module
