What will you learn?
- Competencies to reinforce the safety and continuity of processes by providing the necessary tools to implement procedures and standards related to the prevention and control of emergencies in storage tanks.
- Personal confidence to face this type of events with professional criteria, within a framework of security and organized response and logistics according to the type of incident.
- Understanding and sizing the challenges of this type of event in terms of resources, response times and incident management.
Ability to perform effective calculations of application rates of extinguishing agents such as foam.
Requirements and evaluation method
Students will be evaluated through a theoretical exam and practical exercises where they demonstrate the skills learned.
The student must have experience and training in fire control.
The following personal protective equipment should be worn for firefighting: pants, jacket, firefighting helmet, overalls, gloves and boots. (In case you do not have any of these equipments, please inform your commercial contact).

– NFPA 1561 Management System for Emergency Management.
– API 620 @ 650. - Definitions and general concepts.
- Process equipment associated with flammable liquids.
- Design and construction of tanks according to their use.
- Fire fighting foams.
- Foam solution application calculations.
- Requirements for a Successful Extinction, Water, Equipment, Foam Solution.
- Deployment of the footprint technique in firefighting in tanks.
- Proportioning / Remote Systems.
- Application devices and downloads.
- Operational Logistics.
Application rates under NFPA Standard and requirements according to tank diameter. - Responses to storage tank incidents.
- Incident command in fires with high operational logistics.
- Use of technologies such as XVR (virtual reality training with tank farm simulation for strategic decision making).
- Field practice using simulators:
– Tank trucks.
– Process Plants.
– Scale storage tanks.
– Foam laboratories, boilover.
